The Compass Team is revving up for the festive season with a list of the five Compass Card myths we come across most often, delivered in cheeky panto-style! These myths come up regularly when we talk to Compass Card families at events – particularly in West Sussex where the card is relatively new – so we thought it might be fun to share them with you. If you have any questions about the Compass Card, or you’ve heard a few Compass Card myths yourself, do drop us a line by filling in our feedback form or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Myth number 1
“Most of the Compass Card offers are in Brighton & Hove.”
Oh no they’re not! There are around three times as many offers in and around West Sussex as there are in Brighton & Hove. That’s pretty much what you’d expect because the population of West Sussex is about three times the size of Brighton & Hove.
Myth number 2
“I can’t use my Compass Card WSx in Brighton & Hove.”
Oh yes you can! Virtually every single one of the offers on the Compass Card are shared between Brighton & Hove and West Sussex. So you can access everything you can see on the West Sussex version of the free Compass Card app – yes, everything! And just in case you want to know the offers that aren’t shared with Compass Card West Sussex – it’s Brighton & Hove Libraries, SussexSport gym in Falmer and Make Your Mark art workshops in Brighton.
Myth number 3
“There’s nothing on the card for my child.”
Oh yes there is! We know it can be difficult to persuade some children and young people to try new things and that choosing leisure is challenging when your child has complex needs, but with 300 venues in and around Sussex providing Compass Card deals, there really is something for everyone, everywhere. What’s more, if your child is a stay in wheelchair user, you can filter Compass Card venues on the app and Compass Card website according to their proximity to hoist-assisted changing facilities.
Myth number 4
“There are only offers at leisure centres”
Oh no there aren’t! There are a huge range of places with Compass Card offers, including cinemas, cafes, tenpin bowling alleys, libraries, farms, museums, theatres, zoos, soft play facilities, golf courses, gardens, trampoline parks, tennis courts, hair salons, horse riding centres, taxis, go karts and many, many more. Oh, and we do have offers at about 35 leisure centres too.
Myth number 5
“The application form is too long and complicated to fill in.”
Oh no it isn’t! Ok, we know the form looks a bit forbidding, but this is not like filling in a DLA or PIP application and there’s a lovely free Compass Card at the end of it. You don’t need any paperwork to hand and we reckon it will take you 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Grab yourself a coffee and a piece of cake and get cracking! We do understand of course if you have difficulty filling in forms – call us on 0300 123 9186 and we’ll do our best to help.
