In the current crisis, most Compass Card venues are closed. However, some venues are now open, partly open or doing some of what they usually do online – and we want to make sure you know about them.
Listings on our free Compass Card app and on the offers page on the Compass Card website are not accurate at the moment, so please use this list or check directly with the place you want to visit. You’ll find full contact information on the venue’s Compass Card listing.
Make sure you take the Compass Card with you to validate any Compass Card discount. Places are categorised in the same way they are on the app and then listed in alphabetical order below. Social distancing rules are in place where appropriate.
Chichester Festival Theatre
Chichester Festival Theatre, along with the Festival and Minerva theatres are closed, but they’re showing online performances every month you can watch for free on their website.
Dome Cinema, Worthing
Compass Card holders can take one carer/companion free of charge when the cinema reopens on 4 July. There are a number of measures in place for your safety including temperature checks, a one way system, online booking and card payments where possible. Komedia Brighton is closed, but is streaming a range of events online, including Krater Komedy Club and the lovely kids music, crafts and performance event Sundae Club. You can follow them on Facebook or subscribe to Komedia Live! on YouTube. All events are free, but you’re encouraged to donate if you can.
Compass Card holders can take one carer with them free of charge. You will have to book in person so bear this in mind when you are planing your trip.
Scott Cinemas, East Grinstead
Reopening on Friday 17 July, Compass Card holders can take one carer/companion free of charge. Booking in advance is advised and you can see all the additional safety precautions here.
Food and drink
Buddies Cafe Bar, Brighton
Buddies Cafe Bar is now open for takeaways and eating in and offering a 20% discount on food and drink from Monday to Friday to Compass Card holders and their group. There are a number of changes in place, including leaving your contact information if you eat in, and you can read these on their Facebook page.
Buddys Cafe, Worthing
Compass Card holders receive a 10% discount in the cafe, which is now open for takeaways between 11am and 2pm Tuesday to Friday. Card payment or exact change is preferred.
Palm Court Pavilion, Worthing
Open for takeaways, which can be enjoyed within the beautiful park grounds, between 10am and 3pm at weekends. Take your Compass Card with you for a 10% discount on all food and drink (excluding alcohol) purchased for the Compass Card holder.
Syrup Café, Bognor Regis
Open every day from 9.30am to 2.30pm for takeaways, plus deliveries within a three mile radius for £2. Mention the Compass Card when you order for the 10% discount. You can see the menu here.
Talking Hands Cafe, Hassocks
Talking Hands Cafe has reopened and there is a 50% Compass Card discount on food and drink for the card holder. Running on reduced hours and with a reduced menu, it’s worth checking before you go to see whether they are open. Toilets will not be available and payment is by card only. You can find out more on their Facebook page.
T-Bone Burger, Bognor Regis
The restaurant isn’t open to the public, but is doing daily deliveries from 9.30am to 2.30pm for £2 within a three mile radius. Mention the Compass Card when you order for the 10% discount. You can see the menu here.
Viva Vinyl, Hove
The vinyl shop is closed, but the café is offering a takeaway service. Check out what’s on offer here and show the Compass Card for the 20% discount.
Walled Garden Community Café, Tilgate Park, Crawley
The cafe offers Compass Card holders a 10% discount on food and hot drink. Social distancing rules will be in place and a table service will be operating in the garden. There is also a takeaway service and the ice cream parlour is open too.
Wendy’s @Bosham Walk, Bosham
The cafe has reopened, but for takeaway only, and Compass Card holders receive a free drink with any purchase.
World’s End Pub, Brighton
Open with lots of changes in place to ensure customer safety. You’re advised to book online to ensure a table and it’s card payment only, with Compass Card discounts on specific drinks. To make sure you’re aware of all the changes check out their Facebook page.
Open for volleyball and café takeaways. Show the Compass Card for a £5 discount on volleyball court bookings (Monday to Friday daytime) and for the 10% café discount. The café is open from 10am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 6pm weekends.
Leisure – general
Aldingbourne Country Centre, Nr Chichester
Reopening on Wednesday 15 July, Aldingbourne County Centre offer Compass Card holders one free carer entry. The open farm, mini golf, woodland walk, Oak Tree play area and cafe will all be open. The play tractors, maze, sand & water play and indoor soft play area will remain closed for the time being. You will have to book in advance, which you can do here.
Blackberry Farm, Whitesmith
Blackberry Farm offers Compass Card holders two free carer admissions, (under twos are free of charge), while one carer pays the standard entrance price and a second carer gets free entry. For updates on changes to the farm during the Covid crisis, visit their Facebook page.
Bocketts Farm Park, Leatherhead
You need to book your trip in advance. The Old Barn Tearoom will remain closed, but there are a number of takeaway options available. The indoor play barns, pony and tractor rides, pig racing, the young driver zone, small animal encounters and goat milking demonstrations will remain closed until further notice. You will receive the general disability provision of £9.50 discounted entry for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities plus one free carer entry. Borde Hill Garden, Haywards Heath
The gardens are open, the café is open for takeaways but the adventure playground is closed. You’ll need to book tickets in advance here. Click on the ‘other voucher type’ dropdown and don’t forget to book for a free carer. Then email firstname.lastname@example.org with your booking number to confirm it’s a Compass Card booking. You pay via contactless in the shop on the day.
Brighton Ballet School
Compass Card holders can still claim the 10% discount on online classes. There is a monthly subscription; £24.30 for children up to age 12 (full price £27) and £27 for age 12+ (full price £30). There are also drop in classes for £7.20 per session (full price £8). You will need to provide a picture of the front and back of your Compass Card and then a coupon code will be emailed to you to book online. Your first class is free of charge. British Airways i360
Social distancing measures are in place and you’ need to have a temperature check before you can board the i360. You will need to book online and arrive at least 30 minutes before your booked time to allow for security and safety checks. Compass Card holders can take one carer/companion free of charge. Ceramic Shack, Horsham
Open for bookings only by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01403 581952. Closed on Mondays and Thursday but open from 10.30am to 5.30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.30am to 5.30pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. These opening times may change in August. Make sure you mention your Compass Card when you book to receive the 25% discount.
Ferring Country Centre, Ferring
One parent carer of a Compass Card holder gets free entry to the farm at Ferring Country Centre. You currently have to book your entry tickets online, which you can do by clicking here.
Fun Pots, Haywards Heath
Open seven days a week for booked sessions only. You can book either by calling the studio on 01444 414234 or you can book online, and find out about all the extra safety precautions, here. Don’t forget to mention the Compass Card when you book to get a free studio fee for you and one carer.
Go Kid Music Club and Go Kid Ukelele Club
Go Kid Music Club is mainly online, so it’s business as usual for Compass Card parent Al Start. So you can still learn to play the ukulele for free and still join the music club at a discounted rate. The only difference is that Al’s live shows are now online every Tuesday at 1.30pm and every Thursday at 10.30.
Godstone Farm, Surrey
One carer of a Compass Card holder is admitted free of charge. Visitor numbers are restricted and you need to pre-book a time slot online, which you can do here. The indoor soft play, animal holding and tea room remain closed.
Happy Valley Riding School, Shoreham
Open, but only 1 to 1 lessons are available and you’ll need your own hat, boots and gloves and be able to mount, check girth, adjust stirrups and dismount unaided. The Compass Card discount, which is for group lessons, isn’t available.
Harbour Park, Littlehampton
Tickets for 10 rides only will be sold initially and you can get these online here or at the door. You will no longer be able to walk through the site to the beach and the entrance will be opposite the car park. Contactless payment is preferred and one carer of a Compass Card holder is admitted free of charge.
Knockhatch Adventure Park, Hailsham
Reopening to the general public on Friday 17 July, Compass Card holders can take one parent carer free of charge when purchasing a full priced individual ticket. Visitor numbers are limited and tickets must be booked online. Online tickets will be available to purchase from Monday 13 July on the Knockhatch website.
Libraries, Brighton & Hove
There is no opening date for Brighton & Hove Libraries yet, but you can still access free e-Books, e-Audiobooks, e-Newspapers and magazines as well as lots of online learning. For more information visit their website.
Libraries, West Sussex
West Sussex Libraries are now running their ‘select and collect’ service, where you can reserve specific titles, or choose from a list of general books, and then collect them from the front door of one of the 36 West Sussex libraries. For more information follow this link.
Llama Park, Forest Row
Visitor numbers are limited and you need to book in advance. Compass Card holders receive a standard discount and one carer can accompany free of charge. Food is available to purchase by contactless card only and please note that you won’t be able to bring picnics and/or drinks into the park. There are no llama walks at this time but the playground is open. For more information, and to book your tickets online, visit their website.
Marwell Zoo, Winchester
Providing one free carer ticket when accompanying a Compass Card holder, numbers at Marwell Zoo are limited, you will have to book online and the entire site is cashless. Inside café areas are closed, but outdoor catering outlets will be open for takeaway light bites, drinks and ice creams as well as extra outdoor picnic areas. You can find more information here.
Michelham Priory, Hailsham
The gardens, café and toilets will be open to members of the public, with the house due to open on 20 July.
Out of Bounds, Angmering
Open and offering adventure golf and FootGolf only. Book in advance for both activities on 01903 788588 and mention the Compass Card for a 10% discount. Pay on the day with card only.
Paradise Park, Newhaven
To comply with social distancing, Paradise Park is operating a queuing system in the car park, so you may have to wait to enter. The indoor play area will remain closed for the time being but the cafe is open. Compass Card holders, and up to five other family members, get half price entry and you can find out about all the current changes here.
The shop, café and toilets are closed and the usual Compass card offer isn’t currently available – but the trails and the small car park are open and you can use them for free.
Quarry Farm Stables Riding School
Beginner lessons and pony days are operational and Compass Card holders get a 20% discount. Lessons last half an hour and Compass Card holders under 18 will pay £24 (usual price £30) with over 18s paying £28 (usual price £35). Pony days will cost £40 for card holders (usual price £50). Sea Life Brighton
You will have to book your timed entry tickets online, which you can do here and you can get one free carer ticket with your Compass Card.
The park, woodland walks and car park are open and you can wander round for free, but the house and other facilities are closed, so the Compass Card offer isn’t available. The tea rooms are serving takeaways from 10am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday, the farm shop is open Tuesday to Sunday and the garden centre is open every day.
Staunton Country Park, Havant
The park is open and you can walk round for free, but the toilets, play areas and gardens are closed for the time being. The farm will reopen to all visitors from Tuesday 21 July. If you are over 16 you will receive discounted entry with your Compass Card. Under 16s take one carer free of charge. You will have to book online, which you can do here.
Stoneywish Nature Reserve, Ditchling
There are a number of safety measures in place, which you can read here. Compass Card holders get a 50 pence discount and can take one parent carer free of charge.
Sussex Prairie Garden, near Henfield
Open from 1 to 5pm every day except Tuesday. There’s a free carer offer with the Compass Card and you’ll need to pay by card. The café is serving takeaway cakes, drinks and ice creams.
Tom’s Talking Reptiles, South of England
Tom’s Talking Reptiles is taking bookings for 1-2-1 sessions and small groups. Compass Card holders pay £100 for one hour (usually £120) or £130 for an hour and a half (usually £150). To book, or discuss what they can offer, email firstname.lastname@example.org
Weald & Downland Living Museum, Nr Chichester
You will have to pre-book a timed entry ticket, which you can do online. The Compass Card triggers the standard disability discount – £4.50 standard entry for disabled visitor (including a carer or helper) or £5 with Gift Aid donation.
West Dean Gardens, Chichester
The usual one free carer offer and 50% discount on standard entry for over 16s is available. The garden shop is open and light bite takeaways are available in the garden of Gardeners’ Cottage and from kiosk outlets situated in the gardens. Toilets will be available on site. You’ll need to book a time slot online prior to your visit, which can be done here.
Sport, health and fitness
Arundel Lido, Arundel
Reopening on Monday 18 July, Arundel Lido offers Compass Card holders concessionary rates. You will have to book in advance and if you have any queries you can contact the lido on 01903 884772.
Buzz Active, Eastbourne and Cuckmere
Buzz Active have reopened their kayak and SUP hire at both sites and Compass Card holders receive a 5% discount, plus two for one kayak hire at the Cuckmere site. Call to book your activity on 01323 417023 and make sure you mention the Compass Card.
Chichester District Council Tennis Courts
Compass Card holders still receive a 50% discount but the courts are running on a slightly revised timetable and you need to book in advance, so don’t just turn up and hope to get a court. Call 01243 785664 and mention the Compass Card. You can only play doubles with members of your own household and a gap will be left between each booking to ensure a safe changeover. Chichester Golf Club
The club is currently open for golf on the main courses and the Par 3 for a maximum of two balls at any one time and on the outdoor Jungle Paradise Adventure Golf course. You need to book online, but remember a carer can be admitted free with the Compass Card when you arrive. FootGolf and indoor Adventure Golf remain closed.
Marina Studios, Brighton
There’s a great range of outdoor classes available at Marina Studios and Compass Card holders get a 15% discount on all classes, except for Streetfunk and classes provided by outside hirers. For the most up to date timetable visit the Marina Studios Facebook page.

Tennis courts are now available to book at Haywards Heath, Burgess Hill and Lindfield Common, with social distancing measures in place.
