If you are aged between 14 and 25 and have some time to spare this summer, you could help your local library encourage children to keep reading during the holidays.
Whether you have lots of experience working with children or families, or are looking to develop new skills for your CV, this is a great opportunity.
It’s expected that thousands of families will visit West Sussex libraries this summer to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, so they will need lots of volunteers to help.
Library volunteers will help:
- greet families
- explain how the challenge works
- listen to children talk about what they have been reading
- hand out rewards such as stickers, medals and certificates.
There are 36 libraries in West Sussex, large and small, and some are easier to access than others and can offer greater support to volunteers who need some extra help. If you would like to volunteer in a West Sussex library, please contact Cara Lambert by clicking here to arrange a chat.
